What happens to us after we die?

Hello.  Welcome to my web site.  I hope you find the information on this page useful.  You're probably here because just like me, you have often wondered what happens to you after you die.  At some point in your life, I'm sure that you may have asked yourself one or more of these questions:

"If I were to die right now, where would I spend eternity?"

"When I die, will I go to heaven or hell?"

"How can I be absolutely certain that I am going to heaven?"

"If I died right now, and God said to me, 'Why should I let you into my heaven?' what would I say"

Before you read any further, please keep in mind that I am not "preaching religion" nor am I asking you to join any specific church and/or denomination.  I am not asking for donations, and I most definitely do not belong to or represent a cult of any kind.

The purpose of this page is to lead people to salvation so that they can spend eternity in heaven with God.  If you want to be certain that you have eternal life in heaven and not hell, then you must read and understand these four principles:

1. Recognize that you are a sinner.

First, you must recognize that you, me and everyone else in the world is a sinner.  Plain and simple.  Even though you may be a good, moral and decent person you are still a sinner.

"For there is not a just man on earth who does good and does not sin."  —Ecclesiastes 7:20

"For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God."  —Romans 3:23

"There is none righteous, no, not one."  —Romans 3:10

We can't make excuses or blame others and our circumstances for our actions. No matter how hard you try or how good you are, you will always commit sin.

2. Recognize that sin separates us from God.

God is loving, caring and merciful and does not want to punish us. He does not want us to spend eternity in hell.

"I have loved you with an everlasting love."  —Jeremiah 31:3

"It is not the will of your Father who is in heaven that one of these little ones should perish."  —Matthew 18:14

However, God is also just and therefore he must punish sin.

"The soul who sins shall die."  —Ezekiel 18:4 & 18:20

So on the one hand, God loves us and does not want to punish us.  But on the other hand, God is just and must punish sin.  So how did God fix this problem?

3. Recognize that Jesus Christ died on the cross for your sins.

God fixed this problem by sending his only begotten son, Jesus Christ, into the world.  While he was on the earth, Jesus lived a sinless life.  Then he died on the cross to pay the penalty for our sins and rose from the grave to purchase a place for us in heaven.

"For Christ also suffered once for sins, the just for the unjust, that He might bring us to God."  —1 Peter 3:18

"All we like sheep have gone astray; We have turned, every one, to his own way; And the LORD has laid on Him the iniquity (sin) of us all."  —Isaiah 53:6

Jesus bore our sin in His body on the cross and now offers you eternal life in heaven as a free gift.

"Behold, I stand at the door and knock.  If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him."  —Revelation 3:20

So what must we do to receive this gift?

4. You must accept Jesus Christ as your Savior.

In order to receive God's free gift of eternal life in heaven, you must receive Jesus Christ as your personal savior.  You must believe that he loved you so much that he was willing to leave heaven, live on the Earth as a human being while enduring all of the same sufferings and temptations as we do, and then allow himself to be crucified by being nailed to a wooden cross.

"For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.  For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.

He who believes in Him is not condemned; but he who does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God."  —John 3:16 - 3:18

If you wish to receive Jesus Christ as your personal savior, then call on Him right now in prayer and ask Him.  Here is a suggested prayer:

Prayer of Salvation

"Lord Jesus Christ, I know that I am a sinner and do not deserve eternal life in heaven.  But, I believe You died on the cross and rose from the grave to purchase a place in heaven for me.  Lord Jesus, come into my life; take control of my life; forgive my sins and save me.  I repent of my sins and now place my trust in You for my salvation.  I accept the free gift of eternal life in heaven.  Thank you Jesus."

If you just prayed this prayer and really meant it in your heart, then Jesus Christ has just forgiven you of all your sins.  You have just been saved from hell.  Now, when you die you can be certain that you will spend eternity with God, Jesus, the Holy Spirit, the angels of heaven and the spirits of those who have also received Jesus Christ as their personal savior.

"The one who comes to Me I will by no means cast out."  —John 6:37

I certainly hope that this page was a blessing to you.  Please share it with all of your family, friends and loved ones so that they can also have eternal life in heaven.
